My Skin Care Routine Blog Hop/ Lush review

My Skin Care Routine/ Lush Review

Hey Beauty Babes! This post is a bit of a two-fer. Not only am I participating in a blog-hop with these wonderful ladies on Facebook about our skincare routines, but this gives me a chance to show of my lush haul that I got ages ago and never ended up posting about! I have kept using all the products as part of my skin car routine, so pretty happy to post what I originally intended to.

Mask: BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask, $16.95 75g

Relaxing and reviving, mineral-rich mask to cleanse, soften and beautify all skins. This blend, inspired by the sea, contains fresh and nutritious seaweed and seaweed absolute. Cleansing kaolin, antiseptic honey, calming aloe vera and rose absolute make this a great mask for everyone. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Keep chilled

This is the perfect start to a beauty routine, especially if you have been out of it for a while. I use this before I go for a shower, a couple of times a week, and I am loving it! Previously I had preferred using peel-off or clay masks, but I think my skin feels so much better after using this! It’s good for many different skin types, so a safe bet if you want to order it online because you can’t get into the store.

Cleanser: Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser $16.95 100g

Angelic, medieval cleansing wash with rose and lavender. Angels on Bare Skin is the Lush version of an expensive medieval skincare recipe. Rare, precious essential oils were first brought to Europe by the crusaders who encountered Arabian medicine. The church immediately banned them because their ability to alter states of mind was considered the devil’s work! But the final result was Cosmetics 1, Church 0. Rose oil and lavender oil were discovered to do wonderful things for the skin, too. Almost a thousand years later, you’d be hard pressed to find a better all round cleanser and exfoliator than Angels.

I freaking LOVE this cleanser. I actually use this in the shower, as it is the most convenient time for me to cleanse my face. It has lasted me good couple of months, and the minute it runs out I am buying some more.

Just one tip I have learnt – Always double cleanse! Not just with this cleanser, but with all cleansers. Trust me, your skin feels amazing after you have double cleansed, and sometimes it takes two goes to really get rid of all that icky stuff on your face. On the second time around, I will usually use a cleanser that I am reviewing (so one that came out of my Lust Have It box), unless it really messes with my skin.

Toner: Breathe of Fresh Air, $9.95 100g

Softening toner to soothe and revitalise the skin. Breath of Fresh Air is one of our seaside products, inspired by the Dorset beach coastline. You don’t have to live by the sea to appreciate it; all you have to do is get up in the morning! Sea water is full of mineral salts. Breath of Fresh Air makes your skin feel extra fresh and healthy because we add soothing aloe vera gel, rejuvenating rosemary and calming rose. Use it after cleansing, or refresh yourself at any time of day.

I will never be able to use any sort of harsh, chemical filled toner ever again. I use this twice during my routine – once after using the mask or cleanser (more about that later), and again to set my moisturiser (as suggested by the helpful guy at Lush).

Moisturiser: Imperialis Moisturiser $33.95 45g

Imperialis is a finely crafted moisturiser for all kinds of skin. It’s made with lavender infusion to balance the skin’s sebum production. Lavender encourages dry skin to produce more natural oils and discourages oily skin from overdoing it. Imperialis has loads of helpful plant ingredients, like orange blossom water to tone your skin and St John’s wort to soothe irritations. It’s whipped up with a collection of butters and natural oils to make it not too heavy and not too light, bordering on perfect. If you’re not sure which moisturiser is for you, start here.

I tossed up between this one, and Vanishing Cream, and ultimately decided on this one. This one is great if you like that feeling of locked in moisture, almost like a film. The only downside is it doesn’t have SPF in it – which in the Australian summer is seriously needed! So I prefer to use my Sunsense moisterizer during the day, and let Imperialis do it’s magic at night. I will probably start using this full time in the winter (ha! winter! what is that!).

So that’s it beauty babes. If theres anything you think I may have missed in my review please comment below.

Lust Have It – November

Beauty Box Subscription – November 2013

$19.95 per month

Lust Have It

Hey Beauty Babes! It feels like so long since I blogged properly. I promise I will get back on updating regularly. Plus, this is ridiculously late! This months (last months?) Lust Have It box didn’t seem to have a theme – the back of the info card just advertises their “FAB” box.

Oh well, on to the goodies!

Aveda Botanical Kinetics

Gel Cleanser $54.95/ 150ml – Sample Received 7ml

This plant-derived gel cleanser foams away impurities, helps normalise skin and gently dissolves makeup and impurities. Ideal for normal to oily skin.

Hydrating Lotion $79.95 / 150ml – Sample Received 7ml

Protecting from dehydration, this quick-absorbing hydrating lotion contains naturally-derived ingredients that replenishes moisture with a gentle touch. For all skin types.

Those that know me, know that I’m not a fan of gel cleansers. I just don’t feel like they do anything for me. This one was no different. It’s not that it’s a bad product or anything, just a personal preference. I will probably use the rest of the cleanser next time I need to do a double-cleanse. But I won’t be getting a full size. The moisturiser was equally disappointing for me – my skin actually reacted with it! I guess I just wasn’t meant to have these.

Verdict: Would not buy

Davroe Wellbeing Treatment Replenish

$11.95 /50ml, appear to have received full size.

This intensive moisture-rich treatment deeply penetrates to help repair, seal and smooth even the most damaged hair. With Australian pure plant botanicals and sunflower ceramides, it restores well-being, silkiness and shine to the hair

I actually really liked this. I am always on the hunt for a reasonably priced hair treatment, and I think I have finally found one. The application is a little time consuming – you have to shampoo your hair, and then towel dry it before applying this, and then washing it out after 5 minutes or so – but it might be worth it. Hubby used this as well and he seemed to like it (and lately he hasn’t liked ANY of my hair care products). I have already used the entire tube of this, and I will attempt to track down where I can buy it from!

Verdict: Would buy

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub

$9.99 / 150ml, sample size 15gms

Containing micro-fine crushed cocoa beans to gently exfoliate facial skin, this facial scrub removed dead skin cells. It reveals smoother skin and enhances the skins surface, allowing it to better absorb the daily moisturiser or night cream.

This isn’t too bad of a facial scrub. I have used this once or twice, and I find it almost equal to my Lush cleanser – although I found it a little weak for removing oil. I think I might pick up a tube of this to keep handy for the days when I just need a quick pick me up (or forget to take my cleanser with me somewhere).

Verdict: Would buy

Benefit “They’re Real” Mascara

$38 / 8.5ml, sample size 30gm

This breakthrough mascara reveals lashes you never knew you had with a specially designed brush that can be used horizontally and vertically. The long-wearing jet-black formula lengthens, curls, volumizes , lifts and separates.

There has been so much hype around this product for such a long time. And I must say, it is well deserved. As you can see by the pictures below, it does make a dramatic difference to my eyelashes. The little wand that came with the sample was a bit fiddly, but this may have convinced me to buy a high end mascara! There was also a voucher included in the box for a free eye-brow make-over at your local Benefit counter (I just couldn’t be bothered taking a photo of all the vouchers).

Verdict: Would buy

Mary Kay “Thinking of You” Eau De Parfum

$30/29.6ml, sample size 2 x sachets

This fruity floriental fragrance turns a moment into a memory with a scent that captures the emotions that connect us all and makes the perfect gift.

Now where to start – we could start with the horrendous made up word that is “floriental” (which almost sounds racist), or the fact the sachets were practically useless.  Inside the sachets were little wipes with the scent on it, which you just used on your skin – pretty much a guaranteed one time use! The scent itself was just ok – I’m sure some people would consider it nice but not really for me.

Verdict: Would not buy

Mary Kay Relaxing Foot Soak.

Part of the Pedicure set – $38.

There really wasn’t a description for this so I won’t worry about it. I pretty much got a lucky dip of one of four products that forms the Mary Kay pedicure set. Looking at the list, I would have prefered ANY of the other products, as I don’t have a foot spa or something adequate so soaking your feet in. Kinda disappointing.

Verdict: Would not buy

Lonvitalite C3 Collagen Firming and Moisturising Facial Mask

$32 Pack of 5,  sample received 1 mask.

Supplying collagen, this facial mask mildly seals water in the skin, improves skin lustre, fades wrinkles and promotes the regeneration of damaged skin cells…..

…But not with one application that’s for sure. These masks are all the rage at the moment (pretty sure I received a face mask like this in my last Lust Have It box as well). Once again, it’s a little finicky to use, as no-one has a perfectly symmetrical face, but once you get it on it’s not too bad. You do need to wash your face after, which I think is an improvement from the last one I used! I’m just…not a fan I guess. I think I will stick with my usual mud masks.

Verdict: Would not buy.

Overall, not a bad box this month – everything was either “yes, I love it” or “not really for me”. I’m sure there’s someone out there who loved everything in this box.

Beauty Box Review – Lust Have It September 2013

Beauty Box Review – September 2013

Lust Have it

$19 per month

I’m sure there was a theme this month, but I have managed to misplace the little card that comes with the boxes. so straight onto this months goodies (which seems to be kinda skin-care heavy, but that’s totally ok by me).

Wotnot Natural Organic Facial Wipes

RRP $7.95/25 wipes, Sample Size $1.59/5 wipes.

“Enriched with all natural ingredients including Australian certified organic aloe vera to lubricate and repair, certified organic sweet almond oil to restore moisture and calm inflammation and certified organic rosehip oil for skin regeneration and moisture re-balancing.”

I have never tried this brand, but I have been in need of some new wipes for a while. These felt really strong, yet soft, and removed my makeup quite well.  I would definitely buy these again.

Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover (mini version)

RRP $22, 110ml, Sample size $5.8, 29ml

“Gently removes eye makeup, including waterproof mascara, without tugging or pulling delicate skin in the eye area. Formula does not leave skin feeling dry. The mini is great for travel and small enough to tuck in your handbag.”

I found this kinda meh, but the makeup I tried it on was kinda heavy duty (like, red staining aaaaaaall over my eyes). I wouldn’t say that it sucked, but it didn’t work on what I used it for. So I’m on the fence with this one. My main complaint was how little would come out of the top. I’m sure some people prefer that, and I can see why, but I like a little more product to work with.

L’Oreal Base Magique Primer

RRP $29.95 15ml, Sample size $10, 5ml

“ This amazing primer instantly smooths pores and fine line to create an even surface, so that you get a more flawless make-up result that last and lasts – even during the most active days. The light, mousse like formula blends beautifully whilst the inclusion of soft powders help to absorb sebum, thereby mattifying the skin to reduce shine.”

I don’t need to sell you guys on this, hell I didn’t even need it! I already went out and bought a full size after I received my first sample in my August bellabox (and it’s nearly empty!).  Get it. get it now.

L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream

RRP $26.95 30ml, Sample size 90c 1ml.

“A breakthrough in BB technology. Micro-pigment capsules that transform and self-adjust to match your skin tone for the perfect nude look. This 5 in 1 BB Cream not only offers a flawless ultra-light coverage but also enhances natural complexion, evens skin tone and provides your skin 24 hour hydration and SPF 12 protection.”

I must admit, I was pleasantly suprised by this. It comes out of the sachet as a greyish colour, but changes to its colour as you rub it in. I got this is in medium, which is almost the wrong colour for me. If I can find the correct shade, I would definitely buy this.

Lust Have It Synthetic Precision Pencil Brush

RRP $15

“This synthetic precision pencil brush is perfect for cream or powder eyeshadow application.”

LOVE IT! I’m kinda obsessed with makeup brushes (you can never have too many brushes) and this one is great quality. I would buy so many of these.

Tom Organic Tampons

Full Size $7.99/16 tampons, Sample size ~$1 for 2 tampons.

“ Made using the purest orgaic cotton on earth; TOM organic offers reliable, chemical free protection and peace of mind so you can be active any time of the month with absolutely no worries. All products use cotton that is free from pesticides and genetically modified material, making them better for your body and better for the planet”.

AGAIN with the tampons (I got these in Augusts’ Bellabox).  I’ll keep these for when I need them.

Bioderma Sebium AKN AND Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel

RRP $34.95/30ml – Sample Size ~ $6/5ml AND RRP $29.95/500mL – Sample size ~ $1/10ml

Sebium AKN is a superior smoothing and purifying cream that not only serves as an excellent base for makeup, but also works to eliminate blackheads for skin that’s flawless all on its own. The patented Fluidactive ingredient helps to reduce and fluidify the sebum your skin produces while gentle exfoliating ingredients smooth and refine skin texture, reducing the appearance of clogged pores. This moisturising liquid is lightly scented for a delightful experience that provides real, delightful, results

Isn’t there something about a foaming cleanser that makes you feel as if it’s ‘working’? When you use Bioderma’s, you’ll know it is! Their reputation for quality precedes them and the results speak for themselves. This special, naturally blue cleanser (thanks to the inclusion of mineral ingredients) is made for oily and combination skin that can be prone to acne-related blemishes. Its creamy, foaming texture helps to purify and cleanse the skin without drying it out, and its ability to control and reduce sebum production are second to none. Feel free to share it with the special men in your life, as it’s also gentle enough for men to use as a shaving gel.

There is a reason to my madness of grouping these two together. Apparently, I was only supposed to receive ONE of these, but somehow ended up with both (although it looks like i’m not the only one). My favourite of the two is the foaming gel cleanser. I used this in conjunction with my usual Neutrogena cleanser to double-cleanse (something I HIGHLY recommend everyone does once a week), and it left my skin feeling great. I used the Sebium AKN as a sort of moisturiser overnight and it wasn’t too bad (although I suspect I as using it wrong!). I’m on the fence with the AKN but I will certainly look into getting the gel cleanser.

Baji Super-Nutri Rescue Eye Serum

RRP $39/15ml – received full size.

Baji Rescue Eye Serum is a newly designed, ultra light weight, fast absorbing, intensive formula. A dispense of only a tiny drop is needed for maximum effectiveness for your skins overall health. This unique combination of ingredients helps deliver an incredible group of antioxidants.

The Australian Davidson Plum, Raspberry Seed Oil and Squalene offer natural protection and moisture shield to counteract cell damaging free radicals from environmental conditions.

The Super Nutrient ingredients helpfight against wrinkles, black circles and puffiness around the eyes. A blend of Hyaluronic Acid as the ultimate hydrator, combined with Green Coffee Extract offers superior antioxidant properties proven to reduce hyper pigmentation. Gota Kola to help reduce puffiness, and Siberian Ginseng Which offers natures alternative to Botox .

I had to google this find the information as the card didn’t mention anything. I have used this for two nights in a row and I have to say that I LOVE it. I’ve been looking for a good eye serum for a while – it’s one of the things I was missing from my skin care routine.  You seriously only need maybe half a pump to do both eyes (again, I might be using it incorrectly). Love this and will pick up another one once this is finished.

Box Value: ~$79.30 This is the best value box so far!

Would buy full size: Baji Super-Nutri Rescue Eye Serum, Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel, Tom Organic Tampons, Lust Have It Synthetic Precision Pencil Brush, L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream, L’Oreal Base Magique Primer, Wotnot Natural Organic Facial Wipes

On the Fence: Bioderma Sebium AKN, Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover (mini version)

The fact that there is nothing in this box that I have completely discounted is awesome. I pretty much likes everything in this box, even if i’m not 100% sold on one or two of them.

As always, please head over to the Dark Beauty Makeup Facebook page to receive your code for $5 off your first months subscription. They have really stepped things up, so I highly recommend jumping on board.

Beauty Box Review – Lust Have It August 2013

Beauty Box Review – August 2013

Lust Have It

$19 a month.

Hey beauty Babes.

This is the last of the beauty box subscriptions for this month. Lust Have it chose “Celebration” as their theme for August. I never think that the themes that are decided on ever seem to match up to the products but meh, as long as I get goodies I don’t mind.

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator

Received Full size 30ml/ $29.95.

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator is a lightweight liquid illuminator that works to instantly brighten skin. Designed to enhance skins natural radience, it boost natural illuminosity. minimised flaws, enhances skin with a hint of sheer colour and protects the skin from harsh enviroments.

Apart from the terribly written description (“illuminosity”? seriously?), this does pretty much what is says. Its pretty light weight and gives your skin such a nice shimmer and LUMINOSITY. However I have to admit I have no idea how to actually use this on my face.

I appreciate the full size, so it’s a keeper. I’m on the fence about this one until someone tells me how to use it properly.

Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup

Full Size 30ml / $29.95, unknown sample size.

So light, it melts right in, working in harmony with your skins unique texture for an even, fresh, flawless finish. Vitamin and antioxidant-packed to pump up your natural glow. Available in 23 true-to-tone shades.

Ok so out of the four shades that were provided, NONE of them matched me – at least there wasn’t enough of a sample to really tell, What little I was able to use did look nice, plus my current foundation is about to run out and I am looking to get a new one for summer. From what I can tell, this is a good foundation – I just need to find the right shade for me.

KMS California Free Shape Shampoo

Full size 300ml/$28.95, Sample size 12ml $1.10

Create unlimited style transformations with hot tools. Styles last until the next wash. The freeshape shampoo increased manageability and pliability for preparation for heat styling.

I’m sure I have mentioned this before, but I don’t heat style my hair. I went through a stage when I was 18 where my hair had to be completely stick straight, and now I’m kinda over-it. I just let my hair do it’s own thing. So I didn’t actually try this product, mostly because I have only just washed my hair and I didn’t want to ruin it with a product I am not 100% sure of, and also I probably wouldn’t buy this anyway as it doesn’t suit my current needs. I’m not saying anything bad about it, just that I don’t need it.

KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray

Full size 200ml/ $ 31.95, Sample size 30ml / $5

KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray offers a flexible shaping and elastic hold allowing style to last until the next wash. It gives unlimited heat styling without damage.

As I said above, I don’t heat style my hair – BUT this might be handy in case I need to do my hair for a special occasion, So while I probably won’t be buying this in the full size (although if I do, I’ll be sure to let you guys know), I’ll keep the sample handy.

Sinful Colours Nail Enamel.

Received Full Size 15ml/ $4.95

Sinful Colours nail enamel has a long wearing, chip- resistant, professional formula and is available in 59 runway inspired shades. Shades range from cream and metallic, to shimmer, glitter and matte. Sinful Colours vivid shades inspire and complement any outfit.

I LOVE Sinful Colours – you guys already know that. I love that it is so budget friendly, while still being a really great product. And it was awesome of them to provide a full size product. Downside? It’s pink – which wouldn’t bother most people but as you can tell by now I’m really not a pink person. That said, it’s not that bad of a pink.

It’s pretty wearable without being too over the top. I will be sure to buy MANY Sinful Colours nailpolishes in the future (I need to expand my collection of colours – I have like 15 blacks and not much else).

Lush Gorgeous Cream

Full size 45g / $74.95. Sample Size 10g/ $16

A protective, vitamin filled, softening moisturiser formulated with best ingredients have been used for this light, bright cream.

WHY do companies insist on sending me expensive moisturisers that I am bound to fall in love with. I already love Lush, and this moisturiser is clearly better than some of the cheaper ones I have tried in the past.

It’s not too thick so it soaks into the skin easily. I have been using this as my night cream (my day cream has SPF in it), and I have noticed a difference. I’m going to have to save up and buy this!

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring water

Full Size 300ml/ $21.95, Sample size 50ml/ $4

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water soothes sensitive skin irritated by outside factors (sun, dermatological treatments etc) and helps prevent skin ageing. It is also a natural antioxidant.

This is one of those situations where I never realised I needed something until I tried it. Guys, I NEED THIS. My toner has been really irritating my skin lately – one spritz of this and my skin was soothed. This has at least 10 uses (at least according to the card that came with it), and it’s going to be perfect for the coming warmer months. This sample is going into my handbag, and then the full size can stay at home for when I need it,.

La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm

Full size 400ml/ $37.95, Sample size 15ml/ $1.50

La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm is a lipid-replenishing body balm that offers 24 hours anti-scratching efficacy. It’s quick dress texture for fast absorption into the skin is adapted for babies and children.

I’m not completely sold on this – mostly because it took me a while to realise what it was actually for. It seems to be some sort of body balm, but thats as far as I’ve gotten. I’ve been using this like a body lotion, but if that’s all it’s then it’s a little pricey for that. I’ll stay on the fence for this I think,

Box value: $62.50.

Would buy full size: Lush Gorgeous Cream, Sinful Colours Nail Enamel, Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup, La Roche Posay Thermal Spring water,

On the fence: Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator, La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm

Would not buy full size: KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray, KMS California Free Shape Shampoo.

And we are done with the beauty boxes for this month! I’ll be sure to bring some new stuff shortly.

Overall, I really liked this box, there was a good mix of brands I have heard of and some I hadn’t, plus TWO full size products. I’m impressed.

If you liked the look of this box and would like to subscribe, head over to the Dark Beauty Makeup facebook page to get your code to receive $5 off your first box. I will disclose that when you use this code, I receive some money for it. Think of it as a way to support this awesome page and get some great goodies each month.

Beauty Box – Lust Have It July 2013

Beauty Box Review

Lust Have It – July 2013

$19 a month

Hey Beauty Babes! Yes, it’s ANOTHER beauty box.

I subscribed to Lust Have It in between billing cycles when signing up for the August box (will review that later in the week), so I got the July box as well.

Lust Have It is similar to Bellabox, except that they don’t have an online store that you can buy all of these things from. I kinda feel like because of that, they are able to source some pretty cool stuff.

The theme for July was “Vibrant Beauty”, Here’s what I got:

Nude By Nature natural tinted mineral moisturiser with sunscreen

Received full size, $19.95/30ml.

This natural tinted mineral moisturiser helps to form a fine, protective layer to prevent ageing. It enables the skin to retain the moisture it requires with a natural tint that covers blemishes and creates a smooth, flawless complexion. Perfect to wear under foundation as a primer or by itself for an even radiant complexion.

I used this when I felt too lazy to put on foundation. The colour is pretty close to my natural colour so it just helps to create a nice layer of protection. I’m not sure if I would buy this, but I’ll certainly keep using it until it runs out.

Knotties by Condition Culture hair ties

Received 2, approx, $7.

Knotties hair ties and headbands are the newest innovation in hair accessories. this cutting edge design uses soft yet strong elastic that does not snag or crease your hair. They look great in the hair or can be worn around your wrist as arm jewellery.

These are so awesome – I’m using them right now! I was a little worried that they wouldn’t be strong enough, but they seem to have held my hair pretty well! I think i’m going to buy a whole bunch and replace all my other hair elastics!

Coloursmash by Condtion Culture hair shadow

$20 unknown size, received 3gms.

Coloursmash hair shadow is the premium brand of temporary hair shadow in the hair and beauty industry. Offered in a variety of vibrant colours, it’s inspired by the popular hair chalking trend & the perfect add-on for all occasions. Smash it on. Seal with spray. Wash it out.

I got this in a really bright pink, so I’m not really going to use this. I might put this aside for a friend.

Goldwell Styledesign Hot Form Heat Styling Lotion

Full Size $24.95/150ml, Sample Size $5/30ml

Stylesign hot form heat styling lotion is a strengthening styling lotion for lasting shape and smoothness. Ideal for fine to normal hair, it has heat protection of up to 200C and gives long-term frizz control. To use, spray onto towel dried hair and style dry hair with hot tools. It offers professional salon quality styling results with the added benefit of colour and brilliance.

I style my hair so irregularly these days that I don’t really need this. I might keep the sample for the once in a blue moon I feel like straightening my hair. But otherwise I’m going to pass on this.

Swisse Hand Cream with Vitamin F and Pomegranate.

Full Size $29.95/500ml, $2/30ml

A rich, nourishing hand cream with a quick dry down and non-greasy finish. Vitamin F provides omega 3 and 6 to help preserve the skins natural barrier to environmental impact, while pomegranate oils improve skin texture.

I actually kinda like this. The scent does linger on your hands for a while, but at the same time the cream sinks in really quickly and leaves your hands smelling nice. Not sure what else I can say. It does what it says on the tube!

Naturals NatraSan Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser Chamomile and apple blossom spray.

 Received Full Size $4.49/28ml

Natrasan 99% natural instant hand sanitiser is a fast acting, long lasting and effective non-alcohol based hand sanitiser. this organic formula kills 99.99% of germs in 10 seconds and leaves your hands hygienically clean, ultra soft and naturally moisturised without the need for water or towels. Keep in your handbag and feel vibrant and fresh all day.

I thought this was a really cool idea – and a great alternative to the alcohol-based hand sanitisers like Purell. The scent is really nice and it dries really quickly.  This is ideal to keep in your handbag. If I end up using this a lot, I might get another one.

Would buy full size: Swisse Hand Cream with Vitamin F and Pomegranate. Knotties by Condition Culture hair ties

On the fence: Nude By Nature natural tinted mineral moisturiser with sunscreen, Naturals NatraSan Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser Chamomile and apple blossom spray.

Would not buy full size: Goldwell Styledesign Hot Form Heat Styling Lotion, Coloursmash by Condtion Culture hair shadow

If you guys like the look of the Lust Have It box and want to subscribe, please head over to the Facebook page, where there is a code waiting for you to get $5 off your first box. I will disclose that when you use that code, I get a little bit of money – not much. This does not affect my opinions in reviewing their products. So if you decide to use it, think of it as a way of helping to support me in my beauty addiction!

Beauty Box Review – Bellabox August 2013

Beauty Box Review

Bellabox – August 2013

Yay it’s Bellabox time again. I do get excited to receive this box (even though I have been having a few customer service issues lately that I won’t go into).

This month’s theme is “Get active” – which I thought was rather serendipitous seeing as August has been the month of trying to get my diet under control and attempting to get healthier. I was hoping some of these products would help me feel pretty while doing it!

Ultraceuticals Ultra CC cream mineral tint SPF 30.

Full size $59/50, Sample size ~$6/5ml

“Providing coverage whilst brightening and protecting skin, this is the CC cream to have with you on the go. Unique B2 hydrating technology (Vitamin B5 & B3, Hyaluronic acid) infused with Broad Spectrum SPF30 also makes it a great choice for “active” makeup to be worn in the elements”.

I felt like the only part of this that fit the theme was the fact that it is was SPF30, which would help if you are out in the sun.

The main complaint I have heard so far is that fact that everyone was supplied with “medium” shade (myself included) – which is faaar too dark for many of us. So I won’t be using this unfortunately.

I also noted that there is a very slight fragrance to it – I know many people don’t like any face creams that are fragranced as it can irritate their skin.

L’Oreal Base Magique Primer

Full size $29/15ml, Sample size ~$10/5ml.

I don’t think I have been this excited about a beauty product since the announcement of the new sugarpill products (so, like 5 days ago?). I swatched this on my hand at work and watched all the lines on that section almost disappear! and I used the absolute tiniest amount!

It noticeably smoothed out the area and even improved the skin tone. I am immediately going out and buying this as it is so freakin amazing! The last time I received a sample that I absolutely had to have the full size of was Lady GaGa Fame (currently sitting in my handbag as my everyday perfume).

I won’t go into this too much more as I really want to buy this and review it properly!

ASAP Ultimate Hydration

Full Size $79/50ml, Sample Size ~ $24/15ml

“ No matter the age, dry skin contributes to the appearance of fine line and wrinkles, leading to prematurely aged skin. Use hydration to save you skin from this fate with ASAP. Using three key ingredients to recover natural moisture, improve skin texture and eliminate fine line. The result is an instantaneously improved skin texture and a much healthier skin tone.”

My skin is CRAZY dry (I may have mentioned this before), So anything that can improve that is a welcome addition. That said, this is pretty expensive!

This also has a bit of a scent, but it I must admit it’s quite a nice scent.

I applied this after I had washed my face before bed, and let it soak into my skin over night.  When I woke up the next morning I must admit my skin did look markedly improved! I’m on the fence as to whether or not I would buy this as it is quite expensive. Maybe I’ll treat myself before my wedding anniversary!.

Talavou Natural minerals Glo

Full size $39.95/8gm, Unknown sample size.

“ When all else fails, go natural! This natural bronzer helps to achieve a natural glow and radiance for your face. It consists of only three ingredients – mica, titanium dioxide and iron oxide – making sure that your skin stays breathable and breakouts are kept at arms length”.

Anybody who has even just seen a picture of me, knows I don’t use bronzer. Its not really my thing. I know I should use it more, even just for a bit of contouring.

What I did like about this product was the fact that it is literally only 3 natural ingredients – and no nasty fillers or anything either – which is much better for your skin than many chemical cosmetic ingredients. It’s not an obnoxious bronzer either – Just gives your skin a nice natural glow.

What I didn’t like, was no specifics given to the sample size, and that it was clearly in a full sized tub, but not filled up. (Also, my packaging had a slight crack but meh).

The holes that the powder comes through are HUGE, and as a result, once I had removed the adhesive that sits over the holes, the powder got EVERYWHERE – guys, I opened this at work and it got all over my desk.

So I’m not completely sold on the bronzer. I feel like I don’t really have  need for it. Maybe in summer?

Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser.

Full Size $67/150ml, Sample Size ~$2/5ml.

“ To remove impurities, dead cells and improve the texture of the skin, you need to enlist a great cleanser. Pevonia’s  gentle exfoliating cleanser contains Jojoba beads, Saponaria and Chamomile for a naturally based formula that will gently refine and smoothen your skin, giving way for a cleaner and healthier complexion”.

It annoys me when I get a sample size that is barely one use! But when I tried it, i didn’t have to use the whole tube – so clearly a little goes a long way. I will admit my skin does feel nicer, even after one use.  Again, this is pretty expensive so I might be on the fence about this one for a while.

John Freida precision foam colour intense after-colour conditioner.

Full Size – $16.99/150ml, Sample Size ~$6/50ml.

“This conditioner helps seal in the rich, beautiful tones of any colour and helps protect strands from fading, wash after wash. Suiting all shades of hair, keep yours feeling soft and silky by using on a regular basis to deeply nourish locks, leaving them glossy, healthy and shiny”.

This arrived just in time for me to do my first wash and colouring my hair.  The instructions on the bottle say to use it after you have dyed your hair – but this was close enough. I wet my hair, liberally applied the conditioner, and left it in for around 3 minutes while I did the rest of my skin routine that I do in the shower.

When I washed it out I noticed a small amount of the colour in the water, but remarkably very little appears to have come out. My hair isn’t super fluffy like a lot of conditioners tend to make it  – it’s just nice and sleek and shiny. I think I’m sold on this. I’m going to have to pick up a bottle once my sample runs out.

How an earth am I supposed to review a tampon with it being TMI?

All I will say is it arrived at the right time, worked how it was supposed to, and that I will probably buy it full size as I prefer to use organic tampons like Cottons over say, Libra or whatever.

Would buy full size: L’Oreal Base Magique Primer (and probably already have by the time this comes out),Tom Organic Tampons,  John Freida precision foam colour intense after-colour conditioner

On the fence:  Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser, ASAP Ultimate Hydration

Would not buy full size: Ultraceuticals Ultra CC cream mineral tint SPF 30

Box Value: ~$49 – $50.

A lot of the items I received this time around could be considered “luxe” – so getting $24 worth a higher end product was pretty awesome. This months box was certainly better than lasts months, with more things that I can actually use. I have been feeling pretty “meh” about Bellabox lately for reasons that I won’t go into, but this box has renewed my faith in them.

I think I will hang on to my subscription for at least another month.

My First Lush Haul!

Hey my Beauty Babes! Hope you all are having a great week so far.

At the beginning of the week I received my first ever lush products! I ordered the Bubblegum lip scrub, as I have heard awesome things about it, and I received this sample soap free – which I thought was an awesome touch.

All of Lushs’ products are 100% natural – hell the lip scrub is just castor sugar! See, here are the ingredients:

Here is a description from Lushs website:

Our fabulous lip scrubs are here to keep your kissers sweet. This one will make your lips smell like our best-selling Snow Fairy shower gel. Bubblegum is made with exfoliating castor sugar and our delicious vegan flavour to gently scrub away rough skin, keeping your lips smooth and kissably soft. Simply rub it over your lips when they feel the need for some sugar

This is so natural it even comes with a an expiration date (along with a cute note about who it was that packaged it)

I can only use this quite sparingly because I’m on a diet that restricts the amount of sugar I can have, and the instructions on the tub actually tell you to scrub your lips and then LICK IT OFF!!!

This smells amazing and I was hard pressed not to sit at my desk and just sniff this all freaking day.

After only using this for a few days my lips definitely feel at least a little better.

The Bubblegum lip scrub is available on Lushs website or in store in your nearest city, 25gm for $9.95.

Now on to my freebie!

I received a sample size of the red rooster soap. This smells of orange juice and cinnamon.

From Lushs website:

Red Rooster wakes you up just as surely as a cockerel crowing outside your bedroom window (you have one of those, right?) To make our most refreshing soap, we squeeze the juice of fresh, organic oranges into the mixing vat, then add warming cinnamon and refreshing orange. The reviving scent percolates through the morning fog of your mind and brings you back to life

Now whilst you can’t eat it, it certainly smells delectable! The sample size should last at least a couple of washes.

This leaves your skin feeling so squeaky clean! and the fragrance that it leaves behind is very subtle – this would be perfect in the morning to help you wake up before getting ready for you day.

Full size is availble from Lushs website or in store in your nearest city, 100gm for $5.95.
