My Skin Care Routine/ Lush Review

Hey Beauty Babes! This post is a bit of a two-fer. Not only am I participating in a blog-hop with these wonderful ladies on Facebook about our skincare routines, but this gives me a chance to show of my lush haul that I got ages ago and never ended up posting about! I have kept using all the products as part of my skin car routine, so pretty happy to post what I originally intended to.

Mask: BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask, $16.95 75g

009

Relaxing and reviving, mineral-rich mask to cleanse, soften and beautify all skins. This blend, inspired by the sea, contains fresh and nutritious seaweed and seaweed absolute. Cleansing kaolin, antiseptic honey, calming aloe vera and rose absolute make this a great mask for everyone. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Keep chilled

This is the perfect start to a beauty routine, especially if you have been out of it for a while. I use this before I go for a shower, a couple of times a week, and I am loving it! Previously I had preferred using peel-off or clay masks, but I think my skin feels so much better after using this! It’s good for many different skin types, so a safe bet if you want to order it online because you can’t get into the store.

Cleanser: Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser $16.95 100g

011

Angelic, medieval cleansing wash with rose and lavender. Angels on Bare Skin is the Lush version of an expensive medieval skincare recipe. Rare, precious essential oils were first brought to Europe by the crusaders who encountered Arabian medicine. The church immediately banned them because their ability to alter states of mind was considered the devil’s work! But the final result was Cosmetics 1, Church 0. Rose oil and lavender oil were discovered to do wonderful things for the skin, too. Almost a thousand years later, you’d be hard pressed to find a better all round cleanser and exfoliator than Angels.

I freaking LOVE this cleanser. I actually use this in the shower, as it is the most convenient time for me to cleanse my face. It has lasted me good couple of months, and the minute it runs out I am buying some more.

Just one tip I have learnt – Always double cleanse! Not just with this cleanser, but with all cleansers. Trust me, your skin feels amazing after you have double cleansed, and sometimes it takes two goes to really get rid of all that icky stuff on your face. On the second time around, I will usually use a cleanser that I am reviewing (so one that came out of my Lust Have It box), unless it really messes with my skin.

Toner: Breathe of Fresh Air, $9.95 100g

005

Softening toner to soothe and revitalise the skin. Breath of Fresh Air is one of our seaside products, inspired by the Dorset beach coastline. You don’t have to live by the sea to appreciate it; all you have to do is get up in the morning! Sea water is full of mineral salts. Breath of Fresh Air makes your skin feel extra fresh and healthy because we add soothing aloe vera gel, rejuvenating rosemary and calming rose. Use it after cleansing, or refresh yourself at any time of day.

I will never be able to use any sort of harsh, chemical filled toner ever again. I use this twice during my routine – once after using the mask or cleanser (more about that later), and again to set my moisturiser (as suggested by the helpful guy at Lush).

Moisturiser: Imperialis Moisturiser $33.95 45g

007

Imperialis is a finely crafted moisturiser for all kinds of skin. It’s made with lavender infusion to balance the skin’s sebum production. Lavender encourages dry skin to produce more natural oils and discourages oily skin from overdoing it. Imperialis has loads of helpful plant ingredients, like orange blossom water to tone your skin and St John’s wort to soothe irritations. It’s whipped up with a collection of butters and natural oils to make it not too heavy and not too light, bordering on perfect. If you’re not sure which moisturiser is for you, start here.

I tossed up between this one, and Vanishing Cream, and ultimately decided on this one. This one is great if you like that feeling of locked in moisture, almost like a film. The only downside is it doesn’t have SPF in it – which in the Australian summer is seriously needed! So I prefer to use my Sunsense moisterizer during the day, and let Imperialis do it’s magic at night. I will probably start using this full time in the winter (ha! winter! what is that!).

So that’s it beauty babes. If theres anything you think I may have missed in my review please comment below.

Beauty Box Review – Lust Have It August 2013

Beauty Box Review – August 2013

Lust Have It

$19 a month.

001

Hey beauty Babes.

This is the last of the beauty box subscriptions for this month. Lust Have it chose “Celebration” as their theme for August. I never think that the themes that are decided on ever seem to match up to the products but meh, as long as I get goodies I don’t mind.

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator

Received Full size 30ml/ $29.95.

003

Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator is a lightweight liquid illuminator that works to instantly brighten skin. Designed to enhance skins natural radience, it boost natural illuminosity. minimised flaws, enhances skin with a hint of sheer colour and protects the skin from harsh enviroments.

004

Apart from the terribly written description (“illuminosity”? seriously?), this does pretty much what is says. Its pretty light weight and gives your skin such a nice shimmer and LUMINOSITY. However I have to admit I have no idea how to actually use this on my face.

005

I appreciate the full size, so it’s a keeper. I’m on the fence about this one until someone tells me how to use it properly.

Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup

Full Size 30ml / $29.95, unknown sample size.

006

So light, it melts right in, working in harmony with your skins unique texture for an even, fresh, flawless finish. Vitamin and antioxidant-packed to pump up your natural glow. Available in 23 true-to-tone shades.

Ok so out of the four shades that were provided, NONE of them matched me – at least there wasn’t enough of a sample to really tell, What little I was able to use did look nice, plus my current foundation is about to run out and I am looking to get a new one for summer. From what I can tell, this is a good foundation – I just need to find the right shade for me.

KMS California Free Shape Shampoo

Full size 300ml/$28.95, Sample size 12ml $1.10

009

Create unlimited style transformations with hot tools. Styles last until the next wash. The freeshape shampoo increased manageability and pliability for preparation for heat styling.

I’m sure I have mentioned this before, but I don’t heat style my hair. I went through a stage when I was 18 where my hair had to be completely stick straight, and now I’m kinda over-it. I just let my hair do it’s own thing. So I didn’t actually try this product, mostly because I have only just washed my hair and I didn’t want to ruin it with a product I am not 100% sure of, and also I probably wouldn’t buy this anyway as it doesn’t suit my current needs. I’m not saying anything bad about it, just that I don’t need it.

KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray

Full size 200ml/ $ 31.95, Sample size 30ml / $5

008

KMS Free Shape Hot Flex Spray offers a flexible shaping and elastic hold allowing style to last until the next wash. It gives unlimited heat styling without damage.

As I said above, I don’t heat style my hair – BUT this might be handy in case I need to do my hair for a special occasion, So while I probably won’t be buying this in the full size (although if I do, I’ll be sure to let you guys know), I’ll keep the sample handy.

Sinful Colours Nail Enamel.

Received Full Size 15ml/ $4.95

002

Sinful Colours nail enamel has a long wearing, chip- resistant, professional formula and is available in 59 runway inspired shades. Shades range from cream and metallic, to shimmer, glitter and matte. Sinful Colours vivid shades inspire and complement any outfit.

I LOVE Sinful Colours – you guys already know that. I love that it is so budget friendly, while still being a really great product. And it was awesome of them to provide a full size product. Downside? It’s pink – which wouldn’t bother most people but as you can tell by now I’m really not a pink person. That said, it’s not that bad of a pink.

012

It’s pretty wearable without being too over the top. I will be sure to buy MANY Sinful Colours nailpolishes in the future (I need to expand my collection of colours – I have like 15 blacks and not much else).

Lush Gorgeous Cream

Full size 45g / $74.95. Sample Size 10g/ $16

015

A protective, vitamin filled, softening moisturiser formulated with best ingredients have been used for this light, bright cream.

WHY do companies insist on sending me expensive moisturisers that I am bound to fall in love with. I already love Lush, and this moisturiser is clearly better than some of the cheaper ones I have tried in the past.

016

It’s not too thick so it soaks into the skin easily. I have been using this as my night cream (my day cream has SPF in it), and I have noticed a difference. I’m going to have to save up and buy this!

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring water

Full Size 300ml/ $21.95, Sample size 50ml/ $4

017

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water soothes sensitive skin irritated by outside factors (sun, dermatological treatments etc) and helps prevent skin ageing. It is also a natural antioxidant.

This is one of those situations where I never realised I needed something until I tried it. Guys, I NEED THIS. My toner has been really irritating my skin lately – one spritz of this and my skin was soothed. This has at least 10 uses (at least according to the card that came with it), and it’s going to be perfect for the coming warmer months. This sample is going into my handbag, and then the full size can stay at home for when I need it,.

La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm

Full size 400ml/ $37.95, Sample size 15ml/ $1.50

010

La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm is a lipid-replenishing body balm that offers 24 hours anti-scratching efficacy. It’s quick dress texture for fast absorption into the skin is adapted for babies and children.

I’m not completely sold on this – mostly because it took me a while to realise what it was actually for. It seems to be some sort of body balm, but thats as far as I’ve gotten. I’ve been using this like a body lotion, but if that’s all it’s then it’s a little pricey for that. I’ll stay on the fence for this I think,

Box value: $62.50.

Would buy full size: Lush Gorgeous Cream, Sinful Colours Nail Enamel, Revlon Nearly Naked Makeup, La Roche Posay Thermal Spring water,

On the fence: Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator, La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm

Would not buy full size: KMS California Free Shape Hot Flex Spray, KMS California Free Shape Shampoo.

And we are done with the beauty boxes for this month! I’ll be sure to bring some new stuff shortly.

Overall, I really liked this box, there was a good mix of brands I have heard of and some I hadn’t, plus TWO full size products. I’m impressed.

If you liked the look of this box and would like to subscribe, head over to the Dark Beauty Makeup facebook page to get your code to receive $5 off your first box. I will disclose that when you use this code, I receive some money for it. Think of it as a way to support this awesome page and get some great goodies each month.

My First Lush Haul!

Hey my Beauty Babes! Hope you all are having a great week so far.

At the beginning of the week I received my first ever lush products! I ordered the Bubblegum lip scrub, as I have heard awesome things about it, and I received this sample soap free – which I thought was an awesome touch.

002
All of Lushs’ products are 100% natural – hell the lip scrub is just castor sugar! See, here are the ingredients:

003

Here is a description from Lushs website:

Our fabulous lip scrubs are here to keep your kissers sweet. This one will make your lips smell like our best-selling Snow Fairy shower gel. Bubblegum is made with exfoliating castor sugar and our delicious vegan flavour to gently scrub away rough skin, keeping your lips smooth and kissably soft. Simply rub it over your lips when they feel the need for some sugar

This is so natural it even comes with a an expiration date (along with a cute note about who it was that packaged it)

004

I can only use this quite sparingly because I’m on a diet that restricts the amount of sugar I can have, and the instructions on the tub actually tell you to scrub your lips and then LICK IT OFF!!!

005

This smells amazing and I was hard pressed not to sit at my desk and just sniff this all freaking day.

After only using this for a few days my lips definitely feel at least a little better.

The Bubblegum lip scrub is available on Lushs website or in store in your nearest city, 25gm for $9.95.

Now on to my freebie!

006

I received a sample size of the red rooster soap. This smells of orange juice and cinnamon.

From Lushs website:

Red Rooster wakes you up just as surely as a cockerel crowing outside your bedroom window (you have one of those, right?) To make our most refreshing soap, we squeeze the juice of fresh, organic oranges into the mixing vat, then add warming cinnamon and refreshing orange. The reviving scent percolates through the morning fog of your mind and brings you back to life

Now whilst you can’t eat it, it certainly smells delectable! The sample size should last at least a couple of washes.

008

This leaves your skin feeling so squeaky clean! and the fragrance that it leaves behind is very subtle – this would be perfect in the morning to help you wake up before getting ready for you day.

Full size is availble from Lushs website or in store in your nearest city, 100gm for $5.95.
